Men’s Shaving: The Dos and Don’ts of Male Skin Care

Guest post brought to you by my husband!

We all know the routine. Wet your face, get out your favorite shaving products and
hack away at that facial hair that comes back day after day. What you may not know
is that daily shaving can be quite damaging so let’s examine a few men’s shaving tips
and ways to promote better male skin care.

Cold water or hot water? Everyone has their preferences. Hot water is soothing to the
skin and opens up your pores to somewhat eliminate that “pulled hair feeling” that some
multi blade razors tend to have on the first use. Cold water closes the pores up which
makes hair prickle up more and allows for a closer shave and less chance of razor nicks.
I personally prefer cold water as it delivers a closer shave and less chance of nicks even
though it may not always work well with all mens facial products. Cold water also shrinks
metal which makes your razors edge tighter adding another benefit to eliminating razor
cuts.

There are lots of choices for skin products for men such as creams, lotions, pre and post
shave that can ease redness and burning of sensitive skin. I highly recommend making
use of these and other mens facial products if they make shaving easier or more comfortable.

One thing is certain no matter how many times you shave the hair will always come back
so make the best of it and use the best shaving products and mens facial products available
to make your shaving experience and skin the best it can be.
