Window Valances Sets A Room Off

When I was growing up my mom would take newspaper crumple it up, and stuff it in the end of the window valances, she always said it helped set the room off more. To be honest back then I personally thought it was only one more thing I had to worry about washing. Those things were a pain to keep clean. Then when it came time to wash the curtains, I would have to pull out the newspaper, wash the valances, and re-stuff them.

Now that I am older, I have to agree custom draperies help set off the different rooms in the home. My favorite valances, are the dark blue ones. My dream house will have all custom curtains. I am wanting blue valances in the living room. With a dark blue furniture. Something about blue relaxes me.

Of course, I will have to make sure my husband approves of all the decorating I will be doing. I want to stay as neutral as I can, not all girly, but also not all guy like either. I want it to be extremely cozy.

How many of y’all like valances? Were you like me when you were younger, and thought it was only another pain in the behind thing to clean?

Is my mom the only one that stuffed newspaper in the valances to make them puff out? I will never get why she really did that.
