I recently discovered all the great things I can do with beeswax. So I hunted down a local bees keeper. I don’t think we had those in Tennessee. I asked about the prices of some beeswax, and decided to make the purchase. I purchased 20 pounds, and was informed whenever I need more to let them know!
This is super awesome not only for me, but for my business. This means I can sell product cheaper because I will not have to purchase from out of state and pay shipping charges, and how awesome to have products made with products made in the same state!
My husband and I went and did a test on some lip balm. OMG I have to say it turned out great. Nice and creamy, and have some great additives that will help protect against those nasty cold sores. (Note this lip balm is not a cure, and it is not FDA approved to do so.) However, it does have some products in it for antivirus, and anti-fungal. This will all be discussed later down the road on the business site. I am in the process of getting chapstick tubes, as well as a few different flavors.
Everything is coming together very nicely. Starting a business is a lot of work, and I know the rewards will be well worth it. I wise man once said if you are doing what you love, you will never have to work a day in your life.
I wish I had more room, because then I could be making faster progress, but all products will be made in small batches to make the product better.
You have just pushed my buttons! I am a lipbalmaholic. I love products made with beeswax. I love using natural preventives to stave off infections. I love to support businesses who support local sourcing as much as possible. I can’t wait to learn more.
I am still deciding if I want to “flavor” them. Being back up North we needed something to help protect our lips against the elements. I am still working to get the measurements down to perfect! When working with several different products this can be a challenge. I will let you know once I got everything set :)
Good Luck on your new adventure.. I love my work rooming smelling of peppermint when we used to make lip balms.
