Shopping Can Be Fun!

Were we lived in Tennessee my shopping was very limited to high end stores, or Walmart. I had no Target, Meijers, Kmart, or JC Penney’s unless I wanted to go to Memphis. Let me tell you in the 8 years we lived in Tennessee I only went to Memphis a few times, and it wasn’t to shop. Memphis scares me, whenever I even thought I had to go there my stomach let me know it wasn’t a bit happy with me.

So you can say Walmart got most of my money. I always had it in my head some stores were just to expensive so I couldn’t be bothered to even walk in them. Like JC Penney’s I know growing up mom did some shopping there, but the one stop shops were more convenient. So when we moved to Tennessee not having access to these stores were no big deal.

Well recently I received $50 for JC Penney’s so I was excited to go in there just to see what all I could get. I have to say I was amazed, and I will never assume a store is too pricey for my pockets.

I got my daughter a pair of Arizona Snow Pants, 3 long sleeved shirts, 2 pairs of fuzzy socks, and this cute spring jacket. Now don’t get me wrong I would never pay the price on the price tag for these items, but I sure will take the deals. I discovered the clothes at are not only nicer then Walmart, but also cheaper… All these years, I thought Walmarts clothes were cheaper.

Now I will still shop the mark down racks at Walmart because they have some great deals as well, but a lot of my shopping for my daughter will be at JC Penney’s.

Grand Total for everything I received  should have been about $153 dollars, since I purchased all markdown items total was $50.82, which made my actual out of pocket cost be 82 cents because of the gift card I had.

So if you are like me and won’t go in a store because you think, it’s a pricey store, give it a chance you might be surprised.

  1. I was laughing while reading this post because I had a somewhat opposite experience a while back. I needed a new dress and went to Macy’s and JC Penneys. I found a dress at each place. The dress at JC Penneys ended up costing way more than the Macy’s dress…and I consider Macy’s to be the fancier store. I think you really just have to shop around and look for good deals at any store…”fancy” or not!
