Memory Lane

With all the blah going on in my life right now, I thought taking a trip down memory lane was needed. My sister and I had to go to the town we grew up in last night, so I thought it would be fun to take our daughters to the area we grew up. It is amazing how much has changed. They have so many new stores, and several of the old ones still there.

We grew up in town, so we walked to just about everything. We took them to were we would ice skate in the winter, when we pulled in we noticed they removed the tennis courts so no more ice skating. The building we would go in to get warmed by the fire place was still there though, and the park has had a make over. Other than that no more ice skating at that park.

We then took them by our old elementary/middle school. It was nothing but a huge block. We new they tore it down, but I thought they would have at least rebuilt in that area. Nope nothing left, not even the old playground we would go to on the weekend. Our old house is still there, I am sure with a happy little family living in there. Sometimes I miss that place, but I also have a lot of nightmares about it.

I noticed the bridge we would cross to go to the track was missing as well, makes me wonder if that is why they moved the middle school. Not sure where that is, but we think it is by the high school. Which would make since, now the kids can use the high school track since the old track they once used is no more.

It is amazing how much things can change in time, it has only been about 8 years since I had went down memory lane. I miss being a kid.

  1. Wow, it sounds like your old town has gone through a huge remodel! My mom and I actually walked by a house in town that we used to live in and were amazed that they changed the color scheme (from blue & white to dark gray & dark red) and built a pool in the backyard!

    • It sure has, kind of makes me sad. I miss being a kid at times, all the fun we had. The kids of today have no idea what fun is, they are glued to the TV and computer screens. Kick the can and hide n seek until midnight was awesome.
