Puppy Love

About nine years ago we got a puppy he was Lab/German Shepherd mixed. He was so loving and very protective of our family. When our daughter was in the yard playing if she got out of his site, he would go crazy and start barking. He was a very good dog. However, we ended up moving and we couldn’t take him with us. I was so sad, but I knew we had to give him to another loving family.

After that I didn’t want to get another dog. However, when we were staying in Michigan for those last 8 months we were around dogs all the time, and I have to admit I fell in love. When we told our daughter we were moving back to Tennessee she was pretty sad. Not only will she not have the dogs to play with she wouldn’t have her cousins to play with either. She grew pretty close to them all.

So her daddy and I promised to get her a puppy so she would have a forever friend. We have been back home for a month as of today and we just got her, her forever friend. The problem her forever friend is one that many feel are killer dogs. He is a pit bull german shepherd mix. I have to admit though when my daughter said she wanted a pit bull, I said NO. I was listening to the media hype about this breed. It took me about a week to read up on pit bulls, and to finally say yes.

Pitbull German Shepherd MixThis little guy was born on March 23rd, 2012. I have to admit I fell in love with him the moment I seen him. We wasn’t sure how he would do on the ride back home, so we had him in a box… He wasn’t having that he cried until our daughter put him on her lap then he slept all the way home.

He is an amazing puppy, and I know he is going to be an amazing dog. So far he has been being pretty lazy, so our daughter has decided to name him Bones, as in Lazy Bones.

We are all very grateful to have him as part of our family. However, just because he is amazing people will still have those doubts about pit bulls, and he will be forever judged. So I know we will have to take extra measures once he gets a bit older and the pit starts showing in his body.

I am glad I did some research on the pit bull breed before I said no completely. I wish more people would take the time to actually read up on a breed before passing judgement. Now that I have educated myself on this breed, I personally feel a pit bull is no different then a Lab.

Bones is going to be spoiled rotten, and you will be seeing a lot more of him on my blog. He is our baby!
