My Top 5 Must Have Android Apps

Thanks to Verizon I have been brought up to speed on technology. Before becoming an Ambassador, I didn’t see what all the hype was about when it came to owning a smartphone. Now I know what the hype is about, and I am glad to be hanging with all the cool kids!

If you’re new to the smartphone world, you maybe wondering what are some apps other smartphone users are using. While I have a ton of favorite apps, and I use several of these apps daily here are my top 5 must have Android apps.

Pinterest – I love to browse pinterest whenever I get a chance.  I use pinterest to do all my meal planning, and I have found a ton of unique gift ideas, that I wouldn’t have thought of by myself. It has also lead me to several great blogs.

Out of Milk – The Out of Milk app is a must have app! I use this app when it comes to grocery shopping. With using Pinterest to plan out our meals, I use Out of Milk to make my shopping list of my meals I have planned. I love having everything organized. This helps while we are in the store, and we are going down each aisle. It also allows me to know the amount before I get to the register. Which means I will be able to stay within my budget.

Google Chrome – The Android browser is alright if you like simple. I had Firefox installed for awhile, but found I like Chrome a lot better on my  HTC Droid DNA. I found this browser to run smooth, plus you can now browse incognito! I see my phone as MY phone, while I have nothing to hide, I want my searches to be hid in case someone else was to access my phone.

Netflix – Without having cable television we get all our entertainment via the Internet and Netflix. Having the Netflix app on my smartphone allows me to watch my favorite shows and movies on the go. There’s nothing more boring than sitting in the doctors office waiting, and waiting, and waiting longer. With having anxiety issues, I can put my headphones on and drown myself into a movie while I wait to be called back. It is also a great time killer when waiting at the Dentist office for the kiddo to get done!

Google Voice – Living in the country sometimes causes one to get poor signal. So I have a Google Voice number, this allows my out of state family to get in touch with me whenever they need to. I have my smartphone also setup via the wifi, so when I get a text it comes through whether one has signal or not. Google Voice is a must have app for those that do get poor signal and want a way to text without getting that “message couldn’t be sent” error.

While these are only a few of my personal favorite apps, the Google Play store has thousands of apps that will help make life for you easier.

Do you have a smartphone? What are some of YOUR favorite apps? Any that are must haves, and that I should check out?

Disclosure: I am participating in the Verizon Wireless Ambassadors program and have been provided with a wireless device and three months of service in exchange for my honest opinions about the product.

  1. Thank you for the great app tips, Jamie. I am always looking for new entertaining or useful apps. I think I will try Out of Milk and Google Chrome later tonight when I get home from my shift at DISH. Now my favorite app is certainly a must have. It’s called DISH Remote Access and I can use it to stream live TV or recordings from my Hopper DVR to my phone; all I need is a WIFI, 3g, or 4g connection. I use it everywhere, but it came in particularly handy during a recent trip to the DMV.

    • Those sound like great apps! I am sure they would come in handy for those that have Dish Network :)
