New Comment Policy

I wanted to take the time and explain the reasoning for the new comment policy. I appreciate every comment left on The Neat Things in Life, the comments have to be relevant, and must be at least 15 words.

I am big into entering giveaways, and I subscribe to many blogs. So when an email came in showing a fellow blogger, wrote about comments being seen as spam to Google, I opened it and read further.

It seems another fellow blogger had an SEO expert come in and do some cleaning up for her, in the process they found Google had flagged one of her post, this post was a giveaway post. To her there were no spammy comments, so her SEO guy started digging and asking questions, it was then discovered that those types of comments, and the “blog about the giveaway to get extras” can in fact hurt a blog, more than help the blog.

So this is the reason behind the new comment policy. While I know for some this will be a pain, and for that I am sorry. Also, I ask that you DON’T leave your email address in the comment itself. As long as you include it in the email box as you comment I will have access to contact you if you’re a winner.

E-mail addresses being left in the open are a great way for spam bots to get your email, and start spamming you.

I will be going through all the comments, and deleting a large amount of them. I will also be working on removing email addresses from the public view.

If you have any questions or concerns about the new comment policy please feel free to email me via the contact form, or leave a comment and I will be happy to answer it the best I can.
