Fall Break Coming Soon

It seems like 2013 has just flew by, I am wondering where I was when that happened. We have already got through Summer, now we are in Fall, the temps outside feel a lot like the weather in Michigan when I was about 15. Next week we will be on fall break! It is hard to believe we have been schooling for almost 2 1/2 months.

I am sure my wonderful daughter is glad she will be having a week off soon! However, I have decided she will be doing a bug project for Science during break. This will give her something to do with her time, and I won’t have to hear I am bored. Good thing she likes bugs, right? Since the dog attempted to eat her cellphone, and we are currently waiting on a new screen, this should keep her occupied during fall break!

A win win for mom, no hearing I am bored, and no having to see my daughter get sucked into technology during fall break. With the nicer weather there is no need to be stuck inside anyways.

During part of fall break I will be researching different fun things in the area we can do with her during the winter months, things that are fun, but still educational. I would like to head to Memphis more to see what all they have, I know they have the Zoo, the Pink Palace, an Art Museum, and a few other places. I would also like to go back out to Alamo, TN and do the safari again.

That is one thing about home schooling, we have so much freedom and she isn’t stuck to one thing.

Are you a home schooling family? What kind of projects and fun activities do you do through-out the school year?

Any fun, family, friendly things in the Memphis, TN area we need to check out?

  1. I was homeschooled too! I loved it!! I did my school work in my pj’s and slept ’til 10am. What a life? I learned a lot too and passed with flying colors. I’d do it over again in a minute if I could. It was a great decision and my mom was an amazing teacher!

We started out with public schools and had issues three months in. I wouldn’t change it for anything! We have our days, but I have no complaints from my daughter.
