My Weekend of Love, Laughter and Fun PLUS East Memphis DoubleTree By Hilton Review

I am not required to write a review on The Neat Things in Life for the DoubleTree by Hilton East Memphis location and I was not compensated for this post. However, I did win two free stays to the DoubleTree by Hilton in the Cookie Care Instant Win Sweepstakes.

Hotels in East Memphis June is a busy month for my husband and I, not only do we have Father’s Day, we also have our birthdays and our wedding anniversary. With the past few years being difficult for my family, when I won the two free nights, my husband and I knew right away what we had planned. We were going to use one of the free nights to celebrate our birthdays and anniversary, then the second we would use for our daughter’s birthday.

With my birthday being June 21st, our wedding anniversary being the 22nd of June, and my husband’s birthday being the 23rd of June, we decided we would get a room on our anniversary. So I called a few weeks ahead of time and made reservations and everything else sort of fell into place. I was contacted by a PR company I work with about doing another promotion for Ryan’s, then was looped in on another campaign she was working on for Denny’s (Post with giveaway coming soon for Denny’s). The morning of my birthday I got an email from Marlboro wishing me a happy birthday and giving me two free movie tickets!

weekend made in heaven

So not only was my husband and I getting a free room, we were also getting treated to lunch, dinner and the movies.

I was pretty excited for the 22nd to come, and I didn’t want to sit at the house and wait until check in, so we decided to head out to Shelby Farms to do a bit of walking. After we walked a few miles we both were hungry so we headed to downtown Memphis to locate Denny’s. The food here was amazing, we ordered a few things and shared it all, didn’t want to add on a ton of calories.

After enjoying our afternoon lunch we headed out to find the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel, I had an idea of the location, but wasn’t certain. We ended up getting to the hotel 3 hours before check-in.

DoubleTree Memphis

Whew this hotel has 8 floors, I have never stayed in a hotel with so many floors. I loved the water display in the front of the building, it was very relaxing.

With being so early to the hotel, we worked our way inside to see if they had any rooms ready. We were told they only had double beds, and no kings would be available for about an hour. We noticed a Kroger on our way in so decided we would walk down there and pick up a few things. We were hoping once we got back to the hotel they would have something ready.

However, we were told the same thing, she said she could give us a double, but with it being our anniversary we really didn’t want a double bed. So we said we would wait, however, we really had no where else to go, so after she was done checking everyone in we told her we would be fine with the double bed. She could tell we really didn’t want a double bed, she asked how I was paying and I handed her my free room voucher, she then seen we were only staying for one night so she upgraded us to a Suite!

I thanked her for upgrading told her it worked out perfect because it was my birthday the day before, and it was our anniversary today, and then my husband’s birthday tomorrow. After she checked us in she also gave me two free breakfast buffet coupons for the following morning since it was our birthdays and anniversaries!

I was not expecting that at all, at this point I am already loving this hotel. Not only is it walking distance to the grocery store and movie theater, but the hotel staff is super nice.

Now that we are checked in and we received our keys to the room and our cookies, (let me tell you Hilton cookies are the best) we took the elevator to the 6th floor and found our room.

As soon as I walked in I was amazed. The last time I stayed in a hotel room as nice as this one I was pregnant for my 13 year old daughter.

Now that we are checked in, we hung out for a bit before we went to the movies. Once we got back from the movies we checked out everything the hotel had to offer. Since we’re going to take our daughter there for her birthday we wanted to check out the pool area, I loved how they have it part inside and part outside.

The deepest part of the pool is 5 foot, and that is where you go under the wall to get outside. I know the pool will be a big hit with our daughter and her cousins when we go back next month. We also took a trip to the fitness area, we wanted to workout more in this room, however, we had already walked over 11k steps and we both just wanted to relax.

DoubleTree Fitness Room

We had treadmills, exercise bike, elliptical, balls, weights and even a scale. One thing I likes about this set up, is the little TVs on the machines. I also loved that they had a container with ice and bottled water. Would have loved to be able to spend more time in this are of the hotel, but the room was calling me.

We finally went back to the room were we spent the rest of the evening, the bed in this room was amazing. I think this was the best nights rest I got in a long time. We woke up early showered and made our way down to breakfast a little after 6. We buffet was set up super nice, and the food was yummy. They had a bit of everything from hot dishes, to yogurts, fruits and even cereal.

My husband and I both were amazed by the staff friendliness, the condition of the hotel, and the breakfast in the morning. Did I mention Hilton Cookies are the best!!!

I could not have asked for a better anniversary, this was one of the best days I had in a long time, and I was glad I was able to share it with my husband.

Make sure to check out the DoubleTree by Hilton!
