Why I Chose Verizon

Last year I had a wonderful experience with being a Verizon Wireless Ambassador. Every three months I received a new device as well as unlimited service. Prior to being an ambassador for Verizon we had decided to cut off our cell service. We had AT&T, but I couldn’t justify paying $60 a month for talk and text.

After my partnership with Verizon had ended we depended on Google Voice, and I used my Droid DNA I received from Verizon over Wi-Fi. While Wi-Fi is everywhere, it cannot be a dependable source if you were to breakdown, and the DNA just didn’t have very good support when it came to certain app quality. While Groove IP worked flawlessly on the HTC Droid Incredible, the call quality just wasn’t the same for the Droid DNA. We needed something a bit more stable.

I started to look around and right away I knew that I wanted the Samsung Galaxy S5, I wanted a good camera, and a smartphone with data. While I don’t go out much, Verizon did spoil me with the smartphones. My first option was Cricket Wireless, $589.99 for the phone, no contract, $50 a month for unlimited talk and text, plus 2.5GB of data a month. Downside I know people with Cricket and the service isn’t the best.

Then I thought about prepaid with AT&T the Samsung Galaxy S5 from them was $649.99, then you had the same deal as Cricket Wireless, but this was $10 more a month. Not only was the phone more, but so was the service, $60 a month for unlimited talk and text plus you got 2.5GB of data a month. The only plus to all of this is there is no contract deal.

I then decided to check out T-Mobile and Verizon. I really wanted Verizon, however, I couldn’t see a deal with Verizon and I didn’t want to go with a contract phone.

With T-Mobile, I wasn’t seeing the S5 for their prepaid plans, but if I went non-prepaid, I could get unlimited talk and text with 2GB of data for $45 a month, the phone was $650.

I really had my mind and heart set on Verizon, I had both them and AT&T in the past and I know Verizon is by far the better company. I have read how they’re the highest company out there, and blah blah blah, so I was waiting to check them out, because I didn’t want to get my heart crushed once I seen they were out of my price range.

Verizon prepaid I was someone liking, I really don’t need much data, I just wanted some data. Their prepaid plan is $45 a month you get unlimited talk and text with 500MB of data a month, the phone is $599.99. If you need additional data you can purchase it for cheap, this would have been the plan I went with, however, I didn’t want to spend $600 on a phone.

I got on chat with Verizon, and they informed me of the single line deal they had going on, it was $60 a month, you got unlimited talk, text, and 2GB of data a month. The downside it was a contract deal, I really really didn’t want a contract phone. Sometimes, things get tough and I didn’t want to stress a bill that I had to pay not something I could pay when I needed.

I started looking at the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S5, I discovered with a 2 year contract I could get the S5 for $199.99, but that isn’t all, I found a code online to get another $50 off, then the phone came with a $50 rebate, so now I am down to paying only $99.99 for the phone.

I started to compare and weight out my options, I wasn’t going to take this lightly, I wanted something that was reliable and affordable,  I didn’t want a 2 year contract, but I wanted something affordable, I heard all this talk about Verizon being the highest place, and Cricket Wireless being the cheapest, below are my findings.

2 Years Verizon Contract – $1574.99

2 Years Verizon No Contract – $1679.99

2 Years T-Mobile Contract – $1730

2 Years Cricket Wireless No Contract – $1789.99

2 Years AT&T No Contract – $2089.99

(Please note I didn’t include taxes in the figures above, so prices on a 2 year term will be slightly more due to taxes)

Over all Verizon is in fact the cheapest, I decided to go with a 2 year contract with Verizon, I know they’re the best network out there!
