1. Good Food
Your dog’s diet is paramount, as it can ensure they are healthy as well as happy. Your dog can actually get depressed if they’re not consuming the right food. It can cause all sorts of health problems, including skin infections. Make sure you’re providing your pooch with all the right nutrients.

2. Lots of Toys
Dogs are intelligent creatures that need constant mental stimulation. The best way to keep your dog occupied? Lots of toys! There are dog toys that have been specially designed to challenge your dog’s brain. You’ll also find toys that are almost unbreakable. For those that love to chew. If you can’t be there to play with your dog all day long, make sure they have enough things to keep them occupied.

3. A Comfy Bed
Even if you’re planning on your dog sleeping with you, they should always have a bed of their own as well. This will become their own domain and is great for puppy training, also. Shinola does some beautiful looking dog beds that look super comfy. Make sure you buy one that is big enough for your pooch to spread out on.

4. Plenty of Walks
We’ve already touched on how dogs need to be kept occupied as much as possible. This includes taking them out for long walks, as often as you can. Ideally, at least once a day. If you’re pushed for time, then try getting up half an hour earlier, to take them round the block. This is also an excellent way to keep your pooch fit and healthy.

5. Regular Grooming
Your dog can become unhappy if they’re not being cared for. Grooming your pet will stop them from becoming dirty and depressed. It’s also the perfect time to bond with your pet. Make sure you invest in some proper grooming tools. Give them a brush at least once a week. You should bathe them after every muddy adventure too. Don’t forget to clip their nails!

6. A Schedule
It may seem weird, but dogs need plans in their life. It gives them a sense of order, makes them easier to train, and keeps them from feeling left out. You should have set feeding times, set play times, and set walk times. Who knew pooches liked to stay so organized?!

7. All Your Love and Attention
Finally, one of the most important things your pet needs for a happier life. All of your love and attention. Don’t forget, you are their world. They rely on you for everything. Make sure they’re getting plenty of cuddles, strokes, playtime and love. They’ll love you right back if you do.

Are you providing your dog with all of these things? A happy dog is a healthy dog! So, make sure you’re ticking all these boxes.
