BottomZz Up Potty Training Toolkit Makes Potty Training Easier

potty training

Being a parent is not only joyful, it’s also stressful. As a parent I worry almost 24/7 about the safety and happiness of my child. Some of the joyful times are when our children say their first words, get their first tooth and take their first step and some of those stressful times are when they take their first steps and tumble over, when they start potty training, when they first start school, and when they learn to drive.

With being a stay at home mom most of my child’s life, I had an advantage over the working mom when it came time to potty training. I was able to be there to remind my daughter that she had to go potty. It took me a little while to potty train her, she would do good at home, but when she went to stay with family she would have accidents because she wasn’t reminded that she had to stop playing to go potty. However, by the age of three we were out of diapers and in big girl panties.

Now that I keep my niece most days while her momma works, I get to help potty train her. She is being a bit more stubborn about going potty on the big girl potty. However, I know in time she will get it.

Recently, I was able to get a sneak peek at a new product coming to the market that will make it a bit easier to potty train. BottomZz Up Potty Training Toolkit, is the first of its kind that will actually allow the child to feel the discomfort of being wet. The product is 100% chemical-free, cotton potty training underwear which features a proprietary technology that will let your child feel the wetness when they are wet, all while preventing leaks. This helps take one of the stresses out of potty training on the parent, because we don’t have to worry about our child getting everything wet and having to throw them in the bath every-time they have an accident.

One of the things I liked about the potty training toolkit was the fact it comes with a reward chart and a graduation certificate. When a child and even an adult gets noticed for their hard work they continue to work hard. Whether it’s potty training or working for that promotion. When hard work and trust me potty training for a toddler is hard work is acknowledged one even toddlers will strive to work harder. For a toddler potty training this means less accidents and a full graduation into big girl/boy panties.

As a parent we need to reward for good achievements, no this doesn’t make a child think they should be rewarded for each good thing they do, but it helps instill that hard work will pay off.

The underwear that comes with the BottomZz Up Potty Training Toolkit are soft and made of 100% cotton. This gives the child the feel of being a big kid. The inserts are thin, which takes away from the bulky feel of a pull up. Not to mention they absorb the urine without taking away the feel of being wet.

I did have one issue with the underwear, with all children being different in the stage of their firsts and potty training. The leg holes were a bit to small for my niece. She is an average size toddler and I couldn’t get them up all the way without it feeling like it was going to cut off her circulation. I hope when the product does make it to the market the underwear come in different sizes, so that it will be a great system for all toddlers.

With that being said, BottomZz Up offers not only consistency, but also routine and the encouragement kids need day and night, whether at home or out and about. It also allows parents to save money because they will potty train quicker and reduces environmental waste by not using disposable training pants.

What Makes BottomZz Up Different From Pull Ups

BottomZz Up inserts are made from very absorbent, high quality material used to clean up messes in the emergency room. The material doesn’t contain dangerous chemicals found in diapers or pull ups that are currently on the market. Unlike pull ups the inserts used in BottomZz Up allows your child to feel the wetness, this allowing them to know when they’re wet and making the whole potty training process faster. The inserts take up less space in the landfills making it better for the environment.

Your Top Potty Training Questions Answered by a Pro!

Potty Training can be stressful and confusing for parents and kids. If you have a young child, chances are you have a ton of questions on how to begin the process so you can ditch the diapers. Lynn Ell Tilker, potty training pro and creator of the new eco-friendly Potty Training System, BottomZz Up, was asked several questions to help us breakdown potty training protocol and answer your most frequently asked questions.

How do parents know when it’s time to start potty training?

LT: I believe a child should be walking and talking so that they are able to communicate. There are also signs to look for such as following you into the bathroom, wanting to flush the toilet, play with toilet paper, and acknowledging that they are wet or soiled. I’ve found the best way to find out, though, is to communicate with the child and ask them, “Do you want to use the potty?” or “Do you want to go and get potty stuff?” Communication with the child is a must when determining whether or not a child is ready to potty train.

How long should it take to potty train a child?

LT: There’s no magic number. Each child moves through milestones at different rates. It is all about what I call their ‘Potty Personality’ and if they are ready or not. It also depends on the parent’s willingness to commit to the process and actively engage with their child. Don’t expect it to happen overnight. Potty training is a learned behavior just like everything else in life.

What are the top mistakes parents make when potty training?

LT: There are several common mistakes that are all counterproductive to potty training. Negativity and getting mad at your child over accidents is a big one. Children will feed off of that negativity and not want to participate in the process. Accidents happen so be prepared. Lack of consistency is also another common mistake. Putting kids in underwear all day long and then putting them in a pull-up at night causes confusion. You just told them that it’s ok to wet themselves because you don’t want to be inconvenienced at night. This also happens when parents try to potty train for a weekend and then give up once the work week starts because they are too busy. Parents need to know that once they start potty training, they need to be committed to the process 24/7.

What’s the biggest myth about potty training that you’ve heard?

LT: I think the biggest myth is that the parents can decide when a child is ready. The child and the parent both have to be ready. It’s a team effort and both parties need to want it. I meet a lot of parents who equate potty training success to good parenting and put a ton of pressure on themselves and their kids. Or they use the preschool guidelines as a reason to start potty training. My advice to parents is not to let your friends, family or the school influence your decision of when to start potty training. Ultimately, if your child and you are not ready, you will not be successful and the whole process will take longer and be more stressful for everyone.

What’s the key to successful potty training?

LT: My potty training philosophy is centered around consistency, encouragement, participation and celebration. I believe that all of these elements together are necessary for potty training success. I created BottomZz Up to give parents an entire system that was not only based on my potty training philosophy, but a system that also bridges the learning gap and cuts the confusion of potty training. Because BottomZz Up allows parents to potty train at home or on-the-go and during the day and night, children are 100% potty trained when they complete the program. There are no extra steps involved! It’s not a magic bullet, but if you’re committed to being your child’s potty partner, you will both be successful.
