Keep The Kids Busy During Rainy Days With These Ideas

One of the worst things about February is the rainy days. In fact, it can make weekends hard to fill for the kids. After all, they have been busy with school work during the week. So weekends are a good time to get active. But it’s hard to do that when it’s pouring down outside. However, there are some ways you can still make rainy days exciting for the kids. Therefore, here are some ideas of how to keep them busy when the weather turns bad.

Make some baked goods

There’s nothing better than chomping down on some freshly-baked brownies while sipping hot chocolate when the weather turns foul. Therefore, to ensure you keep the kids busy during rainy days, you should get cooking some baked goods. The kids will love getting stuck in making the cake mix (and licking the spoon after). And they will enjoy tucking into the final creations when they come out of the oven. Make sure you decide on what to cook first before you get started. You might want to opt for some muffins or brownies which will be fun to make. And then you can give the kids jobs to ensure they get fully involved with the cooking process. They might learn something while having fun at the same time!

Time to get crafting

When the weather takes a turn for the worse, you and the kids can still get crafting. After all, you might be able to make some marvelous creations while you are stuck indoors. And crafts are a great way to ensure the kids get creative. They might want to make some valentine’s cards for their friends which is just around the corner. Remember to let them use their imagination so that they can build their creative skills.

Stream some films

You also might want to have a movie day when the weather turns rotten. You can bring the blankets down and pillows and then all chill-out. Also, you can make some snacks such as popcorn to consume while watching the movies. Rather than having to hunt down your DVD collection, you could always stream some movies. That way, you will have a lot more choice for your children. And you can find on sites like Netflix these kids movies for all ages. Therefore, you don’t have to worry about them not being suitable for some of your kids. Also, when you are streaming, you can then click on to another film straight after!

Get active with the kids

When you are stuck indoors, it can be hard to get active. And this means your kids might go without exercise for the whole weekend. But there are some activities you can do inside. For one thing, you can do some dancing with the children. Put on a fun game like Just Dance and let the kids get moving. And you could even stream some of their favorite tunes online and let them dance away. Or instead of dancing, you could even do some yoga or hula hoop. Just make sure you do it in a room which has minimum breakables! Here are some other ways to get the kids active inside the home.

And even know it’s raining, you are bound to have a good family day with the kids.

  1. Jammie you’ve got awesome stay-in ideas here, thanks for sharing! I also agree that children are easily entertained if the right space is set, like fun activities, games with their own furniture and things.
