Can you believe 2014 is almost over? We have less than a week and 2014 will be a thing of the past and we will be able to start 2015 with a fresh start. Most people take and make resolutions in hopes to make the new year better than the year prior. I happen to be the type of person that likes to make resolutions. 2014 my resolution was to lose weight and in 2014 I lost 60 pounds and over 30 inches, this is a HUGE milestone for my personal life.

With 2014 almost over let’s look back to some memorable events from around the world…

March 2014 – Ebola outbreak in West Africa causing more than 7,000 deaths. While the virus has been around for awhile, in March we had an outbreak which has caused many deaths. Once ones gets this virus they have a 50/50 chance of surviving.

August 9th, 2014 – We yet again struggle with race issues thanks to the wonderful world of media. Michael Brown was shot and killed on August 9th, 2014 by a white police officer. With the media hype about a white officer killing an unarmed black man our nation once again became divided by race, when we should have been coming together with what is right and what is wrong.

August 11th, 2014 – We lost a great man who knew the world of entertaining, he made many laugh, cry, and think with his amazing acting in movies such as Mrs. Doubtfire, Good Will Hunting, August Rush and The Night Listener. You new if you were going to be watching a movie with Robin Williams in it you wouldn’t be disappointed. A man with many jokes couldn’t fight his own inner demons and the demons in the end won.

December 2014 – Gas prices in the United States dropped and by the middle of the month many places were seeing gas prices below $2 a gallon, the first time consumers seen relief at the pump in years!

The above besides the falling gas prices plus much more can be found in The World Almanac and Book of Facts 2015, with being a homeschooling family, I find the World Almanacs to be very beneficial to our schooling. We often find information in the book that we some how missed in the news.

With popular sections such as “Year in Sports,” “Top 10 News Topics,” “The World at a Glance,” we can easily find those hot topics of the year. The World Almanac and Book of Facts 2015 is a great book for all those wanting to know what has been going around in the world around them and for those that love to learn.

The World Almanac and Book of Facts 2015 can be purchased online at WorldAlmanac.com. With it being jam packed and America’s top-selling reference book, this is one book you want to have in your home library.

Comments

  1. Super, SUPER book! This is a must have for every home, so easy to look up anything! I know the current thing is to just “search”….but that’s really no substitute for a book. And if you have anyone in school in your home, it’s even more important. We’ve been getting this almanac every year for ages!!!!
