Schooling with a Whiteboard

When I was determined to home school my daughter, my husband and I had a lot of things to discuss. Where the schooling would take place, how we would prepare, what things we would cover, and how would we keep our daughter interested in what we were teaching. We decided most of the school work would be done at the kitchen table, this would give her a lot of room to have her books spread out, and it would keep her focused on the subject at hand.

To keep her focused we would change things up some, we wouldn’t work all out of books, we would utilize the things around us and teach with things she is already interested in.

We also knew that a whiteboard would help us when it came to reading, writing, and math. With teaching in the kitchen we were limited space, while we have not yet purchased a whiteboard stand, we have been thinking about doing so. This would allow us to have a more mobile teaching area, so if we wanted to go outside for the afternoon we could, and we would still have all our teaching tools at hand.

If you are a home schooler, do you use a whiteboard in your favor? Have you thought about getting a whiteboard stand or do you just place the board on the wall?
