2014/2015 School Year Plan

School starts back in full swing in two more weeks!!! My daughter isn’t that thrilled, however, I am pretty excited about the coming year. Going into 7th grade, I plan to have a lot more intense learning, but in a fun way. I want her to read more, write more, and explore more. We will be doing a lot of hands on but in away she doesn’t know she is learning. For example we will be using the kitchen for fun science and cooking experiments and different places around town for history lessons and we may even dig in the dirt a little.

Of course this will be after book work and paper work. I plan on having her do research and she will be working on writing papers. This year I am also going to try and be more organized. I plan on using Pinterest to my advantage this year, I seen a ton of cool things I would love to do with my daughter. Hopefully we don’t have no failed projects, however, if we do I will be sure to share!

This year you will see a lot more posts throughout the 2014/2015 school year. You will see a lot of fun things around Memphis that are related to homeschooling families. If you’re just starting to homeschool be prepared at times you will wish you never pulled your child from the public schools, then at other times you will be thrilled you did. At times you will just want to throw the pencil down and walk away, guess what that is all normal.

Just make sure you let your child know it isn’t them. Be strong, be understanding and if you need a breather take one.

  1. You sure have a lot of patience to be able to homeschool, plus a talent for it. I know I’d NEVER have been able to do it! God bless you!

With homeschooling it really depends on which route you take. You can take the I am the teacher you’re the student route, or you can make everyday life schooling. Here we do reading, math and writing. Most of her learning is through her reading. Very little teach time on my part. Self learning is the best way to learn, it teaches the child how to research.
