Financial Anxiety: How To Ease Your Worries Without Adding To Them

Anxiety can range from a niggling voice that keeps you awake at night, to a fear of social situations. Deep rooted anxiety can even bring on panic attacks and anyone who has experienced one of these, will know how stressful and scary they are.

A lot of modern day anxiety is caused by financial situations. Pressure on the family to earn enough to keep the wolf at bay. So how can you help keep the anxiety down whilst not spending a fortune on counseling or healthcare?

Tea

Whilst this does fall under the hydration banner, we aren’t focussing on cell regeneration and improving your overall health through drinking. Many teas have a calming affect on our bodies and for years the Chinese have been using tea as an alternative to medicine.

Chamomile, Lemon balm and green tea all have natural ingredients that are used in anxiety medication. So try to include a little more herbal tea in your life. Take time out when you are drinking it and try to use the tea as an excuse to practice any mind training techniques you have.

Heat It Up

After a long bath or a sauna you will find yourself feeling calm and relaxed. This is because heat helps to reduce tension in our muscles. Warmth also alters neuro circuits which help you to relax and unwind. It doesn’t matter if you are sunbathing in the Caribbean, cuddled up by the fire or sitting in a hot bath. You will find peace and tranquility and a moment to help clarify your thoughts before working out how you can reduce debt or financial worry

Get Alternative

Some people swear by gemstone qualities which include healing and cleansing. Blue Lace Agate, Jet stone, Shungite and Hematite are renowned as being the most powerful. Use them in your home or slip a small crystal in your pocket. Having something to rub or hold when you feel anxiety rising can also help focus your mind.

Himalayan salt lamps have really risen in popularity. It is believed they have a positive effect on the ions within our bodies and can help keep you calmer and boost your mood. They also offer a calming glow and relaxing light.

Breathe

Drawing more oxygen into our lungs and focusing on the sensation of deep rolling breaths is a great way to help control an anxiety attack. Find a calm and quiet zone then practise these techniques to calm your mind, relax your body and boost your level of control.

Stop Catastrophizing

When anxiety strikes we tend to go into a negative mindset where we start ‘catastrophic thinking’ This where you focus on the bad or unbearable things. The worst that can happen. You begin to tell yourself the situation could ruin your life.

To stop the process breathe, take a walk or a bath and then dissect the situation and look at the probability of this situation becoming a catastrophe.
