First Ever Concert Foo Fighters in Memphis, TN

On Thursday May 3rd 2018, my husband took me to my first ever concert at a big venue, we went and seen the Foo Fighters at the FedExForums. This place is massive and the concert was amazing. The Foo Fighters were supposed to be in Memphis back in October, but due to a family emergency the concert was canceled, which played in our favor because we were able to get tickets to the new show date. With it being my first concert, I wanted to get there early which was a good thing.

Parking was insanely high, we had to walk around the building to get in, but everything ran super smooth. We were pretty high up, but still had a great view.

The Struts a group from the UK were the opening act. They opened the show at 7:15pm and played about 30 minutes. They were high energy, funny and the music wasn’t to bad but I wasn’t digging it much.

Once they were done, they left the stage and all the guys came in to clear the stage and set it up for the greatest rock band in the world and let me tell you the Foo Fighters put on an amazing show. The lights, the music and the humor was awesome. Never thought I would laugh at a rock concert, but I did many times.

We stood some, we sat some, I liked standing better, when we sat down I could feel every hit of the drums in my chest and that I wasn’t a big fan of but I dealt with it.

There were a few parts of the show that was my favorites. Dave Grohl had a 15 year old boy come up to the stage and play with Chris Shiflett. That is a memory that boy will hold on to for the rest of his life. Then another part that was my favorite, they put on a light show and when it was done, Dave said we all witnessed the first ever light show in their 23 years of performing. Dave wasn’t a fan of the light show and the next song he had them kill the lights. Once the lights went out that was when I got one of the most amazing pictures, most everyone turned on their phone flashlights and lite the stage up.

There were a few empty seats but not many. I mean who would miss the greatest rock band in the world perform, especially with it being Memphis in May, one of the biggest events Memphis holds during the year.

What was the first concert you have ever attended?
